You gotta admit, we live in a pretty cool time. We live in a world full of electric skateboards, unicycles, and scooters, and all kinds of cool ways to get around. One of our favorite ways to commute is on electric skateboards. Maybe it’s the inner techie in us but these things are the wave of the future. Electric skateboards are a lot like regular skateboards except they have batteries, that power motors which propel the board. The acceleration, deceleration, and braking is controlled by a handheld controller. In this article, I’ll be discussing 4 reasons electric skateboards are awesome.
Electric skateboards are great for short commutes and because they run on rechargeable batteries, they don’t add any smog or pollutants to the atmosphere. Choosing to take your electric skateboard to get around campus or up to the local store instead of taking your car is a great way to help reduce your carbon footprint. As citizens of this planet, I think we owe it to future generations to reduce what you can.
I don’t have to tell you electric skateboards are awesome, anyone who’s seen Marty McFly whipping through the streets in back to the future back in the days knows how long we’ve been waiting for this type of technology. These things are so fun to ride. The speed alone makes them fun, but off-road models such as the MotoTec 1600W, come equipped with bigger wheels so they can provide traction on any terrain.
Because it’s better than playing video games all day right? Nah! We all need fresh air here proof going outside makes you healthier. Skating in general gets you outside with nature, breathing in fresh air, and your blood pumping. There are quite a few benefits of skating such as gaining better coordination, improved balance and stress relief.
Practical for short commutes
For short commutes why not save some gas money. As long as the weather permits, an electric skateboard is a great way to get around town. I would recommend them as transportation for no more than an 8-mile round trip. The average electric skateboard only holds a charge for around 10 miles unless you have one of the models that hold’s an extended charge. Most of these boards can get some serious speed. The average electric skateboard can get up to around 12 – 15 miles per hour. This should be plenty of speed to deem this reasonable transportation, although boards can be modded to go faster.
